Unveiled at the ongoing 2016 Geneva Motor Show, Volvo XC90 Excellence T8 is an ultra luxurious variant of the company’s flagship SUV, the XC90. At the unveil, Rushlane caught up with Mr Tom von Bonsdorff, Managing Director, Volvo Auto India, who too was at the Geneva Motor Show (seen in the image above with XC90 Excellence).

Speaking to Rushlane, Tom confirmed that XC90 Excellence is going to be launched in India later this year in September. In fact, after Geneva he will be travelling to Sweden, where he will be speaking to higher officials regarding the allotment of XC90 Excellence units for India.
Powered by their 2.0 liter petrol engine along with an electric motor, the plug-in hybrid setup delivers a total power output of 400 hp and 640 Nm, making it the most powerful hybrid car on offer in India. Not only the XC90 T8 Excellence is a powerful car, it is also very efficient with a claimed fuel efficiency of 47.61 kmpl.

Volvo XC90 Excellence T8 gets three driving modes – Pure, Hybrid and Power. In the Pure mode, you will be able to drive the vehicle in all-electric power, which if the battery is fully charged, will give you a range of up to 42 kms. In hybrid mode, the intelligent drive system uses both, petrol and electric motor depending on terrain and throttle response. In Power mode, you have the full 400 hp on tap, which shoots the car from 0-100 kmph in just 5.6 seconds and to a top speed of 225 kmph.

Apart from the engine, what sets the XC90 Excellence apart from the rest, are the four individual seats seperated from the boot space via glass enclosure. It gets soft leather seats with heating and massage function, folding tables, specially designed headrests, handcrafted glasses from Orrefors. Price can be expected to be in the range of INR 1.2-1.4 crore.
