2018 VW Arteon on display at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. It is based on Volkswagen Group’s MQB platform. It gets transverse engines and an all wheel drive system while it takes the place of the CC in the VW range. It exudes a sportier and more luxurious stance as compared to the Passat due to which it will be positioned above Passat as a premium offering in the company lineup.
Volkswagen Arteon measures 4,862mm in length, 1,871mm in width and 1,427mm in height. It sits on a 2,841mm long wheelbase and receives exterior features that include a low roof line and massive shoulder lines.
Interiors are seen with the latest in technology that includes Active Info Display and an infotainment system with screen size varying from 6.5” to 9.2”. Ambient lighting, ample interior space, comfortable and ergonomic seating and safety systems such as adaptive cruise control, Emergency Assist, Lane Assist and proactive occupant protection are also a part of its interiors.
To be offered in 6 petrol and diesel engine options, Volkswagen Arteon gets powered by 1.5 liter TSI petrol and 2.0 TSI petrol offering peak power from 148 hp to 279 hp. Diesel engine options include a 2.0 liter TDI engine offering 148 hp, 187 hp and 236 hp. Engines are mated to 6 speed manual gearbox or 7 speed dual clutch depending on variant.
Once officially launched later this year, 2018 Volkswagen Arteon will compete against BMW 4-Series Gran Coupe and Audi A5 Sportback.
