Based on the INDIA 2.0 strategy, Volkswagen India currently offers two vehicles – Taigun SUV and Virtus sedan. Now that calendar year 2026 has started, Volkswagen India has announced a price hike with its portfolio. However, the base variants of both Taigun and Virtus have received major price cuts, bringing their entry-prices lower, while other variants get price hikes.
2026 Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus
Both Taigun SUV and Virtus sedan are on the verge of getting their respective updates. Taigun facelift has been spied testing multiple times too. Before that, Volkswagen India recently teased a new SUV for the country, which could be their 7-seater Tayron SUV to compete with Skoda Kodiaq SUV. It could be brought into the country via CBU route.
Ahead of that, Volkswagen India has announced a major price revision for Taigun SUV and Virtus sedan. Interestingly, both Taigun and Virtus get price cuts for the base variant, while other variants get a price hike. This move makes entry-level prices of both vehicles more attractive offering a better value proposition for buyers.

Taigun SUV
The base Comfortline MT variant of Volkswagen Taigun SUV has been bestowed with a price cut of Rs 84,000, bringing the entry-level base price down to Rs 10.58 lakh from Rs 11.42 lakh. Taigun competes with SUVs like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Victoris, Toyota Hyryder, Tata Sierra, Curvv, Honda Elevate, MG Astor, Skoda Kushaq and Citroen Aircross and Basalt.
Because Taigun has a much difficult job of having to compete in India’s most populated and contested 4.2m to 4.4m SUV segment, it gets a rather low price hike for 2026 of just Rs 4,000, which is uniform across all variants and powertrain combinations, except for the base Comfortline MT which gets a price cut as mentioned above.

Virtus Sedan
With its Virtus C+ Segment sedan, Volkswagen is offering a price cut only to its base Comfortline MT variant. Rest all other variants get a price hike for calendar year 2026 ranging between Rs 2,000 and Rs 51,000, depending upon the variant.
Lowest Rs 2,000 price hike is seen with Topline AT variant, while highest price hike of Rs 51,000 was seen with Highline AT and GT Line MT. Now that Maruti Suzuki Ciaz has been discontinued, Virtus currently rivals the likes of Skoda Slavia and Honda City. The price hike for 2026 with other variants can be seen in the table above.
