WABCO braking tech for T1 PRIMA Truck Racing Championship race


WABCO Holdings Inc. (NYSE: WBC) demonstrated its industry leading safety and efficiency technologies at India’s first-ever T1 PRIMA Truck Racing Championship. Tata Motors partnered with WABCO as its Braking Technology Partner for the race on March 23, 2014 at Formula 1 Buddh International Circuit (BIC) in Greater Noida.

T1 PRIMA Truck Racing Championship saw 6 truck racing teams participate with 2 trucks per team. 12 Tata Motors’ Prima Model 4038.S trucks were specially customized and featured a number of safety and efficiency technologies drawn from WABCO’s extensive global portfolio.

Each Tata Motors’ Prima Model 4038.S race truck was equipped with a fully integrated compressed air system to feature WABCO’s high-performance Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) alongside high-output compressor technology, advanced air processing systems and braking components.

WABCO was the 1st to introduce ABS to the commercial vehicle industry having sold more than 8 million systems globally till date. WABCO’s vision is to help significantly reduce the number of commercial vehicle accidents worldwide. In a 2012 study, India’s Ministry of Road Transport and Highways attributed 77% of road accidents to drivers losing control over their vehicles. WABCO’s Anti-Lock Braking, ESCsmartTM roll stability control , OptiDrive automated manual transmission and OnGuard collision mitigation improve driver effectiveness and road safety.
