Watch Honda lawnmower create world record for being the fastest

Honda Meanmower lawnmower has entered the Guinness Book of World Records for being the worlds fastest. Earlier last month in Spain, the record was created under the watchful Guinness officials at the IDIADA Proving Ground, in Tarragona, Spain. It is here that the Honda lawnmower recorded an average speed of 187.60km/h (116.57mph), smashing the previous record of 45 kmph out of the Guinness Book of World Records.

As per the norm, Honda Meanmower had to record speed in both directions within a time span of one hour. The speed was getting recorded by timing partner, Timing Solutions Limited over a 100 meter speed trap. During which it achieved a top speed of over 209 kmph. Apart from this, it also had to cut grass, which was done separately. Honda Meanmower can cut grass at speeds of upto 24 kmpl.

Why would Honda create such a fast lawnmower, which also cuts grass? In their words, “The idea for Mean Mower was to demonstrate Honda’s sprit of innovation, its motor sport heritage, and that it makes more than just cars.” Manufactured and designed by Team Dynamics, with inputs from Honda Yuasa Racing drivers, three times BTCC champion Matt Neal and 2013 champion Gordon Shedden, the engine is that from Honda VTR Firestorm, along with custom suspensions, ATV wheels, paddle shifters, high capacity oil cooler and a secondary water cooling radiator.
