Through development and export of a petrol variant of the XUV500, Mahindra hopes to capitalize on gaining a huge customer base in international markets too.
Sources point out that the petrol variant will be offered with a 2.2L turbo charged engine system. President of Mahindra’s automotive sector made it clear that the SUV would not be launched in Indian markets but could be made available at a later stage if there is need.
He also stated that even if there was a possibility of diesel SUV’s becoming unaffordable, launch of the petrol variant could be made effective within a period of six to nine months and not immediately. Raging customer reviews and superior engine technologies which are getting better each and every day have made diesel vehicles popular among many individuals all over the world.
