Yamaha Aerox scooter (Honda Grazia rival) on display at a Yamaha dealership in India

Yamaha Aerox 155 is a sporty and stylish new scooter which is currently on sale in Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and Philippines. Back in January this year, just ahead of the 2018 Auto Expo, the scooter was spied in India, where the market for scooters is growing exponentially. Just recently, Honda launched the Grazia scooter, and now to rival it, Yamaha could be expected to launch the Aerox 155.

Spied at a company dealership in India, the Yamaha Aerox 155 receives twin eye LED headlamps and LED tail lamps, brake lights, smart key system, mobile charging point, a digital instrument console and 5.8” LCD screen.

The dealership mentions that the scooter is only for display, and not for sale.

It also gets 14” wheels and 25 liter under seat storage. Braking is via front disc with ABS and rear drum brake and the scooter rides on telescopic front forks and twin rear shock absorbers. Its 14” wheels are fitted with 110 section front and 140 section at the rear.

Engine specifications include a 155cc Yamaha Blue Core, liquid cooled, single cylinder petrol engine. This engine offers 14.8 bhp power at 8,000 rpm and 14.4 Nm torque at 6,000 rpm. Yamaha Aerox 155 is the first scooter in India to get a liquid cooled, fuel injected engine.

Once officially launched in India, Yamaha Aerox 155 will have to face competition from the Aprilia SR150, the upcoming Suzuki Burgman 155 and a range of models from Vespa.

No pricing details are revealed as on date but it is estimated that the Yamaha Aerox 155 could be priced between INR 75,000 – 80,000. It will be aimed at younger buyers with Yamaha deleting some features so as to make it more cost efficient in the country.
