The Yamaha Saluto RX commuter motorcycle has been launched in India at INR 46,400 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new derivative sits below the Saluto 125 to cover the huge void that the company’s portfolio had in the commuter space.
Targeting the rural youth, the Saluto RX is powered by a 110 cc air-cooled engine which is mated to a 4-speed gearbox to produce 7.5 PS at 7,000 rpm and 8.5 Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm. The company claims an impressive mileage of 82 kmpl. The Splendor slayer would be relying on its styling and high fuel efficiency to make a strong case for itself in a segment where customers are usually loyal to a brand and think twice before shopping out of it.
With a light kerb weight of 98 kg, the Saluto RX is expected to be a nimble commuter with decent performance. In term of styling, the bikini faired motorcycle is essentially a watered down version of the Saluto 125. It is available in four color options – red, blue, black and grey.
The Yamaha Saluto RX is equipped with conventional telescopic front fork and twin rear shock absorbers. The alloy wheels are retarded by drum brakes at both ends. The bike is 2,020 mm long, 740 mm wide, 1,045 mm tall and has a wheelbase of 1,255 mm. Ground clearance stands at 175 mm.
