Yamaha Cygnus Alpha will compete against other models in its category which include Suzuki Swish, Suzuki Access, Piaggio Vespa and an upcoming model from Honda. It will sport an 113cc engine offering peak power of 7 bhp and peak torque of 8.1 Nm. While power and torque figures are nothing to be excited about, it will be its performance and mileage that will win greater amount of attention.
Yamaha’s Cygnus Alpha coming with all the trimmings required for a family scooter will be based on the same platform as the Yamaha Ray while it will bear some similarities to the Honda Activa as well. It also will get telescopic suspension but no disc brakes.
With a host of gender specific scooter which include the Yamaha Ray Z exclusively for male riders and Yamaha Ray for female riders, the new Cygnus Alpha is ideally suited for the entire family with a longer and wider saddle and more luggage space in front. No prices have been announced as on date and could be revealed at the Auto Expo in early February. (images via)
