Yamaha recall of 125cc Hybrid scooters

As per the recall notice, a potential issue has been identified with the front brake calliper of the affected scooters. Under certain operating conditions, there could be a situation where the front brake calliper may not perform optimally. This may not happen with every scooter covered under the recall, but the risk is still present.

In line with Yamaha’s strong commitment to quality and user safety, a voluntary recall campaign has been announced covering 3,06,635 scooters. Inspecting such a large number of scooters is part of a precautionary approach. It will ensure that nothing is left to chance. The 125 cc hybrid scooters covered under the recall campaign were manufactured between May 2, 2024, to September 3, 2025.

To check if their scooter is covered under the recall, users can visit the ‘Voluntary Recall Campaign’ page on Yamaha’s India website. Users need to enter their scooter’s chassis number to know the details and the next steps in the process. Users can also get in touch with their authorized Yamaha showroom or contact online support on the toll-free number or email ID for further assistance.

Affected scooters will be inspected at the service centre and replacement of the specific part will be provided completely free of charge. Since a large number of scooters are covered under this recall campaign, it is recommended that users fix an appointment before visiting the service centre.

Yamaha 125cc hybrid scooters

Scooters covered in this recall campaign include the RayZR 125 Fi Hybrid and Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid. While these scooters have a different bodywork, they share the same basic hardware. Power is supplied via a 125cc air cooled SOHC engine that generates 8.2 PS and 10.3 Nm of torque. It is paired with an automatic transmission.

The petrol engine works in combination with a Smart Motor Generator (SMG) system, which is used to charge the onboard battery. The hybrid setup functions via an enhanced power assist system, which utilizes power from the battery pack to deliver sustained high torque. This boosted performance comes handy in specific situations such as climbing inclines or carrying heavy loads. The SMG also allows hassle-free and quiet engine starts.

Both scooters have 12-inch front and 10-inch rear wheels, wrapped in 90/90 front and 110/90 rear tubeless tyres. Suspension setup comprises telescopic forks at the front and unit swingarm at the rear. Braking power comes from a 190 mm disc at the front and a drum brake at the rear.

Both scooters have a wide range of connectivity features (Y-Connect) and a USB charging port. Yamaha RayZR 125 Disc variant is available at a starting price of Rs 80,900. In comparison, the Fascino 125 Disc variants have a higher entry cost, starting at Rs 87,100.
