The Yamaha M-Slaz premium 150 cc naked street fighter which was launched in Thailand and Indonesia (called as Xabre) recently is being promoted by a new TVC featuring MotoGP riders Bradley Smith and Pol Espargaro. The commercial promotes the motorcycle’s youthful appeal and sporty dynamics in addition to highlighting the salient features.
Based on the same platform as the R15 fully faired sportsbike, the M-Slaz uses a diamond frame but instead of a regular telescopic front fork it gets inverted unit. The rear continues to be suspended by a monoshock. The design is extremely compact and edgy.
The M-Slaz sports LED headlamps, fully digital instrument console, LED taillights, split seats and so on. The riding positioned is upright yet sporty, as you can deduce from the video.
Powering the M-Slaz is the familiar 150 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine which is mated to a 6-speed gearbox to churn out 16.32 PS at 8,500 rpm and 14.3 Nm of torque 7,500 rpm. With a high power-to-weight ratio, the naked motorcycle promises to be sprightly.
In Thailand, the Yamaha M-Slaz has is positioned above the R15 with prices starting from THB 89,500 (around INR 1.63 lakhs). There has been a rumor that Yamaha may launch its snazzy street fighter in India but given that the brand already has an extensive list of 150 cc motorcycles, it’s not likely to be launched here anytime soon.
