Yamaha MT25 spied in Indonesia, no sign of R25 launch in India
Yamaha MT25 is a naked version of Yamaha YZF-R25, which was launched last year in Indonesia. The MT 25 will receive the same engine as seen on the R25.
News of R25 naked sibling first started doing rounds online when a suspicious naked motorcycle was seen on the track, where Yamaha had held R25’s customer and media test rides. Later it was confirmed that this bike in fact was the naked sibling of R25, which is known unofficially named as MT25.
Latest spy shot of MT25 reveals that the clip on handle-bars of the R25 have been done away with. Instead you have a single piece wide handle bar in its place, offering the rider an upright riding position. Yamaha MT25 gets a 250cc parallel twin engine which is capable of 36 PS peak power at 12,000 rpm and 22.6 Nm peak torque at 10,000 rpm.
Production of Yamaha MT25 is expected to commence at Yamaha Indonesia plant later this year. As per a report earlier this year, the MT25 will share production line with R25. Speaking about India launch, it is not expected to take place anytime soon.
Yamaha India was expected to launch the R25 by late 2014 or early 2015, which obviously is not happening. This is because the company is contemplating between R25 and its more powerful sibling – R3.
