Following a much awaited launch, Yamaha MT15 naked streetfighter, which is based on R15 V3, has had a decent showing in the first month it’s been available. With Yamaha MT15 the company has created an entry level sports bike segment, and capitalised on it. First month sales are pegged at 5,203 units.

Prior to Yamaha MT15 launch, the company’s entry level bikes comprised the FZ or R series. Interestingly, MT15 sales has in no way negatively impacted sales of other 150cc offerings from the company in its first month of sales. FZ sales were stable at 18,362 units compared to 18,348 units sold in March 2018. R15 sales were up 81 percent at 9,503 units, up from 5,252 units sold in March 2018.

Price of MT15 starts at Rs 1.36 lakhs, ex-showroom. This had left many fans unhappy, who had then branded the bike as EMPTY15. This was due to missing features and high price. But it seems like the high price has not had any effect on target audience.

The brand also sells R15 V3 at Rs 1.39 lakhs, and fits it with dual ABS. MT15 gets single Yamaha FZ25 dual ABS is available at a price of Rs 1.33 lakhs, ex-sh. As such, Yamaha offers a wide variety in varying permutation sand combinations in a similar price range.

Yamaha MT15 is available in Dark Matte Blue with neon green accents, and Metallic Black in a full black colour scheme. Beyond the standard, to make the MT-15 even more exciting, company dealers are offering two new paint schemes. There is a white and black paint scheme wherein the tank side panels and radiator shrouds are painted in white while the rest of the bike is finished in black. An orange and white paint scheme is also available with orange colored wheels and orange MT logo on the tank with the rest of the motorcycle finished in white. This dealer level paint scheme is at an added cost of Rs.20,000 over the price of the MT-15.

The MT15 is also offered with accessories such as tank pad, seat cover, pillion footrest and USB charging port priced from Rs.190 to Rs.750 and offered at authorized Yamaha dealerships across the country.
