Yamaha R15 V3 spied at a dealer yard, was in fact a mod job

Last week, Indonesian sites reported that they have spied the new generation Yamaha R15 V3 after a few images emerged online. These images which claimed to be of the new R15 V3, showed the bike with a new headlight cluster, whereas everything else was more or less same as the current R15 V2.

This was enough for some readers to point out that this probably is not the R15 V3, but a mod job. Now, new images have emerged which confirm that it was in fact a modified R15 V2 and not the R15 V3.

In spite of the fact that these are not the images of R15 V3, it does not mean that the new gen R15 is not on in the making. In fact Yamaha India officials have confirmed on record that the new R15 will be launched in 2017 and will be more sharper and powerful than ever before.

The 150 cc flagship from Yamaha, R15 was first launched back in 2008. Then in 2011, the company updated the model and re-launched it as Version 2 or V2. Yamaha was expected to launch the Version 3 of R15 in 2015, but what they launched was the original Version 1 as the R15 S in India.

New Yamaha R15 V3 is expected to get USD forks in the front, ride by wire tech, new digital instrument cluster, ABS, revised styling, projector headlamp with LED DRLs, and LED taillights. Above is the spy shot of the more powerful Yamaha R15 V3 engine.

Speaking about engine, Yamaha R15 V3 is rumored to be powered by a more powerful 155 cc single cylinder liquid cooled engine. This engine could deliver power in the range of 18-20 hp while torque output could be in the range of 17 Nm. More details to be revealed in the coming weeks.
