Yamaha R3 India launch on 11th August at Buddh International Circuit

Making its way into India via the CKD route from Indonesia, Yamaha R3 will compete against KTM RC390, Kawasaki Ninja 300, Honda CBR250R and Hyosung GT250R. These bikes have a price tag of around INR 2.5 – 4 lakhs and it is in this range that Yamaha India could also be pricing the R3 sportbike.

 Yamaha claims R3 has one of the fastest and smoothest acceleration in the segment.

Yamaha YZF-R3 is already on sale in many countries where the company has received a positive response. It is powered by a twin cylinder, fuel injected 321 cc engine offering peak power of 42 PS at 10,750 rpm and peak torque of 29.6 Nm at 9,000 rpm mated to a 6 speed transmission driving power to rear wheels via a chain drive.

Weighing a total of 169 kgs, the Yamaha YZF-R3 is built on an all new steel frame. It sports telescopic front forks and a single unit at the rear while braking is possible through 298mm and 220 mm hydraulic disc brakes at front and rear. Yamaha R3 can attain top speed of 187 kmph and can accelerate from 0 to 60 kmph in 2.89 seconds and from 0 to 100 kmph in 6 seconds.

New Yamaha R3 has already been spied on Indian roads.

The new Yamaha R3 sportbike closely resembles the R25 with both bikes sharing body panels, diamond type frame and dimensions. The R3 sports dual headlamps, 10 spoke alloy wheels and digital analogue console. It measures 2,090 mm in length, 720 mm in width, 1,135 mm in height while it sits on a wheelbase measuring 1,380. Ground clearance stands at 160 mm while it sports a fuel tank of 14 liters capacity.

Yamaha India will be offering R3 sportbike in three colors of Yamaha Racing Blue, Red, and Midnight Black with ABS as an option while European markets get ABS as standard.
