Yamaha R3 reaches dealerships ahead of Aug 11 launch
Yamaha R3 is slated to be launched in India on August 11 and a recent spyshot which is circulating online suggests that the motorcycle has already started reaching dealerships across the country. The mandatory saree guard confirms that the image was indeed clicked in India.
It has to be mentioned that R3 has a stance of a proper full sized sportsbike and this should go a long way attracting young riders. The compact sportsbike will compete with the likes of Kawasaki Ninja 300 and KTM RC 390.
Bookings for the fully faired motorcycle has reportedly commenced at certain dealerships. It’s also reported that Yamaha will assemble the product locally out of CKD kits sourced from Indonesia. However, the extent of localization is unclear as of now.
Unlike the smaller R15 which has an aggressive lead-forward riding stance, R3 has a slightly relaxed posture, making it easier to use it in urban conditions and long rides. The styling is shared with R25.
R3 is powered by a 321 cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled fuel-injected motor which has 42 PS at 10,750 rpm and 29.6 Nm of torque at 9,000 rpm when paired to a 6-speed transmission. The compact sportsbike is suspended by telescopic fork upfront and a mono suspension at the rear. Both wheels employ a disc brake each to shed speed.
We expect the Yamaha R3 to be priced between INR 2.75 – 3 lakhs (ex-showroom).
