New Yamaha V-Ixion R naked bike with R15 V3 engine launched
The updated fuel-injected motor produces 19.31 PS and 14.7 Nm of torque.
2017 Yamaha V-Ixion R which is essentially the streetfighter version of the recently introduced YZF-R15 V3.0 has been launched in Indonesia. The latest iteration of the naked bike receives similar mechanical upgrades as its fully faired sibling in addition to minor cosmetic enhancements.
The newer and more powerful variant has been given the R suffix to differentiate itself from its predecessor. Visual improvements include slightly revised fuel tank extensions, new color themes, body colored center panels and a smaller exhaust canister. The motorcycle also receives fatter rear tyre.
As far as hardware goes, 2017 V-Ixion R adopts R15 V3.0’s 155.1 cc single-cylinder oil-cooled engine which benefits from variable valve actuation to produce 19.31 PS at 10,000 rpm and 14.7 Nm of torque at 8,500 rpm. The motor is paired with a 6-speed gearbox by means of a slipper clutch.
The new streetfighter incorporates LED headlamps, fully digital instrument console with gear shift light and USB charger. The motorcycle is underpinned by a Deltabox frame which employs front telescopic fork and rear mono suspension.
The wheels are retarded by a disc brake each and come shod with 90/80-17M front and 130/70-17M rear rubbers. 2017 Yamaha V-Ixion R tips the scale at 131 kg and has a fuel tank capacity of 11 litres.
The streetfighter retails at IDR 29,500,000 (around INR 1.43 lakhs). This when compared to the price of R15 V3, is a much affordable option as the R15 V3 price starts from IDR 34,500,000 (INR 1.67 lakh).
