Datsun redi-GO Concept, GO+ MPV and Go hatch #AutoExpo
At the 2014 Auto Expo, Datsun has unveiled two new very special models, one of which is a global unveil. This is in the form of Redi-GO crossover Concept and GO+ compact MPV. Apart from this, they also unveiled all-new Go hatchback for India, production of which has now commenced at the Renault-Nissan plant in Chennai.
Redi-GO designed as a hatchback with features of a compact SUV and hence called a crossover, is noted to display a “ready to go” appeal. It comes in with various SUV elements which include high ground clearance, wide grille and a bold body stance. It also sports light clusters in the front and rear besides LED and daytime running lights.
The crossover market in India is on the rise and Redi-GO builds on the Datsun design language while its aggressive stance, strong side profile and enhanced agility will instantly appeal to a younger and more adventurous set of buyers in India.
Datsun GO hatchback and GO+, compact MPV are based on the same platform. Go hatch will soon be launched in India with a price tag of under Rs 4 lakh. Go+ will come at a later stage, probably next year. GO+ is aimed to compete with Honda Mobilio (India launch this year), Chevrolet Enjoy and Maruti Ertiga.
The GO+ gets a Datsun Mobile Docking Station, a feature to provide smart-phone integration while it comes with a 1.2 liter, 3 cylinder engine mated to a 5 speed manual transmission. This engine offers 67 bhp peak power and 104 Nm torque while the MPV itself measures 3995mm length, 1635mm width and 1485mm height. Its wheelbase measures 2450mm due to which interior space is at a premium.
