Fiat Abarth Punto 145 hp India launch on October 19

Fiat Abarth Punto, the new hot-hatch based on the Fiat Punto Evo, is to be launched in India on the 19th October 2015, confirmed Fiat India in a mail to Rushlane. Featuring a 1.4 liter T-Jet turbocharged petrol engine offering 145 hp peak power at 6,000 rpm and 212 Nm peak torque at 1,750 rpm, making it the most powerful hatchback in the country.

Mated to a 5 speed manual transmission, acceleration from 0 to 100 kmph is achieved in 8.8 seconds while mileage stands at 16.3 kmpl.

The grey color option which was showcased, will not be offered upon launch.

Sportier in stance as compared to the current Punto, ground clearance of Abarth Punto is reduced by 20 mm. Other changes on board includes dual tone alloy wheels with 195/55 R16 Apollo tyres, Abarth badges and front grille with contrasting horizontal slats. The new Abarth, to be offered in two colors, black and white, will also come in with the red colored Scorpion logo on roof and sportier steel pedals, as is exclusive for Abarth high performance models.

Interiors, done up in red upholstery with contrasting yellow stitching also adds to its sporty appeal as do machined pedals and Abarth badges on steering wheel. The Fiat Abarth Punto receives a host of safety features that include 7 airbags – dual stage driver and passenger bags, side bags, window bags and driver knee bags. The hot hatchback also sports ABS with EBD, hill start assist, ESP and hydraulic brake assistance.

Fiat Abarth Punto will be produced from the company plant in Ranjangaon, near Pune.
