Honda City petrol deliveries begin, HCIL Feb’14 sales of 14,543 units equate to 123% growth
Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL), reported domestic sales of 14,543 units in February 2014, thereby registering 123% sales growth contributed largely by the recently launched all new 4th-gen Honda City, and continual demand for Honda Amaze sedan. In comparison, Honda sold 6510 cars in February 2013. Deliveries for petrol City, which had been kept on hold at the time of City diesel launch began as per schedule in February 2014.
Mr. Jnaneswar Sen, Sr. Vice President – Marketing & Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd. said, “We are happy to see the huge demand for the all new Honda City which has gained the leadership position in its segment from the first month itself. The deliveries for the Petrol City have begun from February and with both our car manufacturing plants in operation, it will aid in quick delivery of cars and cater to the strong demand from our customers. The excise duty reduction announced during Interim budget last month has made all our cars even more attractively priced for our customers.”
Through Apr’13 – Feb’14, HCIL has registered 83% overall growth with 115,913 units sold as against 63,439 units sold during the corresponding period last year. In the current fiscal, HCIL crossed 1 lakh unit sales for the first time in a financial year at teh end of January 2014 having sold 101,370 units in Apr’13– Jan 14 period. In February 2014, HCIL exported 252 cars as against 510 units exported during February 2013, equating to 51% decline.
For the month Honda India sold 1235 Brio hatchbacks, 6030 Amaze sedans, 7213 City sedans and 65 CRV’s. Including exports, HCIL sold 14795 units in Feb’14. Last week, Honda India began production of cars at its 2nd plant, thereby augmenting HCIL’s total installed production capacity to 240,000 units/ annum in India.
