The success of HMSI can be gauged from the fact that the company grew 5 times faster than the entire two wheeler industry in the first quarter of this fiscal. Its success is attributed to launch of a number of new models both in the motorcycle and scooter segments.

Honda’s market share in automatic scooter is as high as over 80% in Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh and over 70% in 3 States (Andhra Pradesh, Haryana and Uttarakhand).

Apart from launching new two wheelers, they also paid equal attention to expansion of networks in smaller towns. It is the HMSI flexibility in production mix that has allowed the company to cater to demands of a wider range of customers and have a product range that is well accepted in the market.

The star behind their success is Honda Activa, crossing 1 million unit sales in the first five months of this fiscal. The recently launched Livo and CBR 650F motorcycles have also seen overwhelming response. Following this success, the company plans many new models in scooter and motorcycle segments while with the upcoming festive season expects to see the next growth curve for HMSI in India.
