Mahindra Quanto AWD with 120 hp 2.2 litre engine launched in Italy

India’s leading utility vehicle manufacturer, Mahindra and Mahindra has launched a more powerful variant of Quanto in Italy. Though similar in looks, there is a massive difference under the hood when we compare the Italian Quanto with Indian counterpart.

On sale now, Mahindra is offering India-made Quanto in Italy with a 2.2 liter mHawk four cylinder diesel engine which generates 120 hp power at 4,000 rpm and 280 Nm torque at 1,800 rpm. In addition to this more powerful engine, Quanto also gets an electric 4WD drive system on board the top of the line variant as an option!

Transmission is taken care by a five speed manual gearbox. This setup is similar to the one found on Scorpio on sale in India. To keep the price of new Quanto competitive, the engine and transmission system is manufactured in Europe by Austrian company called AVL. Price of new Quanto AWD start from €14,274 (INR 10 lakh).

The all new Mahindra Quanto distributed sold in Italy comes with a warranty of 3 years or 100,000 kms. Apart from this, customers also get three years of free 24×7 roadside assistance along with towing service. Along with new Quanto, Mahindra has announced the same warranty and free roadside assistance service on all their vehicles which are sold in Europe.

Mahindra is currently present in 10 European countries via a network of over 100 dealers. There are plans to penetrate further into the European market by launching new dealerships and entering new European countries.

In India, Quanto is offered with a 1.5 liter three cylinder diesel engine which generates 100 hp at 3,750 rpm and 240 Nm at 1,600 rpm. Mated to a five speed manual transmision, which powers the rear wheels, price range of Quanto in India is INR 6.78 lakh to INR 8.31 lakh.

Considering that Mahindra is working on a Quanto facelift, we can expect the 120 hp 2.2 liter option with 4WD on offer in India very soon.
