New Bajaj Avenger launched – Variants, Specs, Prices, Photos [Gallery Updated]

The new Bajaj Avenger cruiser has been launched in three variants with a starting price of INR 84,000 (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The variants target a wide range of audience with varying tastes.

Engines and Gearboxes

The higher 220 cc variants retain the older model’s liquid-cooled 220 cc single-cylinder unit that breathes via carburetor. Mated to a 5-speed gearbox, the engine churns out 19.03 PS and 17.5 Nm of torque.

The Street variants target younger urban audience with black theme, flatter handlebar and a new grabrail.

The base variant sports the 150 cc single-cylinder air-cooled motor that is derived from the Pulsar 150. The motor puts out 14.5 PS and 12.5 Nm of torque. Transmission is a 5-speed unit.

Variants and Features

The Avenger Street 220 receives interesting decals and fully black color theme replete with black alloy wheels. This variant targets younger urban audience who look for a sporty cruiser. It also gets a flatter handlebar, new grab rails and a digi-analog speedometer.

The Avenger Cruise 220, with its numerous chrome parts and spoke wheels, attracts fans of classic motorcycles. The Cruise 220 sports dual-tone theme for the fuel tank with insignia and a windscreen. It also features digi-analog speedometer and a handlebar which is different from that of the Street 220.

The Avenger Street 150 is just the smaller engined version of the Street 220. The black theme, alloy wheels and flatter handlebar have been carried over.

Dimensions

All the three variants measure 2,177 mm in length and has a ground clearance of 169 mm. The Street variants are 801 mm wide and 1,070 mm tall whereas the Cruise 220 is wider by 5 mm due to the difference in the handlebars and taller by 72 mm due to the windscreen. Coming to the wheelbase, the 220 variants measure 1,490 mm while the 150 cc variant measures 1,480 mm.

The Avenger Cruise 220, Street 220 and Street 150 tip the scales at 155 kg, 150 kg and 148 kg respectively. All the three have a fuel tank capacity of 14 litres.

Tyres and Brakes

The trio adopts common specifications for tyres and brakes. The front and rear tyre measure 90/90 x 17 and 133/90 x 15 respectively. The front wheel is retarded by a 240 mm disc brake while the rear wheel makes do with a 130 mm drum brake.

Colors

The Avenger Cruise 220 is available in Divine Black, the Cruiser 220 comes in Matt Black while the Street 150 can be had in Midnight Blue.

With a padded pillion backrest, a wider handlebar and a windshield, the Avenger Cruise 220 is the variant to go far if long rides are your thing.

The family of new Bajaj Avenger cruisers have no real competition in the segment and the company is looking at selling 9,000 units a month. The Hyosung Aquila 250 is much more expensive and the UM Renegade cruiser variants are still some time away from hitting the market. Bajaj would be hoping that the new trio will resulting in a sales spurt this festive season.
