Tata Motors launch Zest compact sedan in Nepal

Zest from Tata Motors is being launched at a starting price of 24.5 lakh Nepali rupees, ex-showroom, for the petrol Revotron 1.2T model and 30.75 lakh Nepali rupees onward as starting price for diesel variant powered by 1.3 litre Quadrajet and 5-speed Automated Manual Transmission (AMT). Both automatic and sequential gear-shifting modes are developed in collaboration with Magneti Marelli. Sales across Nepal began today through 18 Tata Motors passenger vehicle sales outlets. Starting price roughly equates to Rs 15.5 lakhs.

Johnny Oommen, Head – International Business, Tata Motors says Nepal is a key market, and it has been the company’s endeavour to bring more cars to this market. Zest has been engineered for global customers and is seeing good demand in India. Tata Motors hopes the reciprocate the same customer excitement in Nepal as petrol and diesel versions come with their unique segment-first features. Tata Zest is available in four trims in petrol (XE, XM, XMS and XT) and five trims in diesel (XE, XM, XMS, XMA (AMT) and XT). Zest is available in 6 colours – Buzz Blue, Venetian Red, Sky Grey, Dune Beige, Platinum Silver and Pristine White.

Siddharth Rana, Chairman – Sipradi Trading says Tata Zest is an automotive engineering marvel with latest technology, and STPL is proud to bring it to Nepal. He is confident of establishing Zest’s footprint in Nepal. Tata Zest is being manufactured at the Pimpri and Ranjangaon Plant in Pune on a completely modified X1 platform. Tata Zest petrol and diesel powertrains are BS-IV compliant, and capable of meeting future norms. Multi-Drive Mode tech enables switching between Sport, Eco, and City mode for superior throttle response.

Zest Diesel AMT has dual drive modes, City and Sport mode. Mt is shift assist manual engaging. A Harman acoustic audio and infotainment system is being used, alongwith a 5″ ConnectNext Touchscreen Infotainment System, Advance voice command recognition, SMS notification and read outs, and fully Automatic Temperature Controls.

Petrol Revotron 1.2T returns power of 90PS @ 5000 RPM and max peak torque of 140 Nm @ 1750-3500 RPM. Tata zest top speed is pegged at 154 kmph. Diesel 1.3L Quadrajet engine returns max power of 90PS @ 4000 RPM and max torque of 200 Nm @ 1750 -3000 RPM of uninterrupted flat torque. Top speed is pegged at 158 kmph. Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) certifies Revotron 1.2T fuel efficiency at 17.6 km/litre and diesel mileage at 23 km/litre.
