Yamaha FZ-S FI and FZ FI Ver 2.0 launched by John Abraham (Techspecs updated)
Yamaha Motor India began a new chapter in the two wheeler industry today when the launched the new FZ-S and FZ motorcycles in presence of John Abraham. Both featuring Yamaha’s next gen Blue Core Technology with Fuel Injection, the new Yamaha FZ FI is priced at Rs 76,250 while the new Yamaha FZ-S FI is priced at Rs 78,250. Yamaha’s stunning FZ-S motorbike has been eagerly awaited by biking enthusiasts in the country ever since it was displayed at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo. Featuring a host of cosmetic updates, the new FZ-S and FZ will be seen with split seats, new headlight design, new instrument control with LCD multi function digital display, refreshed tail lamps and rear design. Both new Yamaha motorcycles will also feature attractive decals.
Offered in a total of six colours, three new for each, Yamaha says that they have designed the two new bikes to look more macho, more powerful and more comfortable. Explaining more on the three points, they elaborated that compared to the older bikes, new Yamaha motorcycles will be aerodynamic, will offer best in class initial pickup, less vibrations, increased fuel efficiency, and new grip design radial tubeless tyres.
Speaking about the new Blue Core Engine, this is a 149 cc unit generating 13.1 PS and 12.8 Nm torque. This surprisingly is a smaller unit as compared to the previous 153 cc unit. But thanks to improved design, reduced weight, the performance and efficiency is much better than before.
Talking about numbers, the new FZ-S and FZ is about 3 kgs lighter than the previous variants, which makes it the lightest in the segment (132 kg kerb weight). Yamaha has managed to improve the 0-100 kmph time, increase mileage by 14% and reduce CO2 emissions, making the bike more eco-friendly than before.

Built on Yamaha’s New Generation ‘Blue Core’ engine concept offering a more powerful, fuel-efficient, eco-friendly, 149cc fuel-injected engine mounted on a newly-designed lightweight body
New Delhi, 30 June 2014: Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd., today launched 2 new models to comprise its very successful FZ Series. The new models FZ Version 2.0 and FZ-S Version 2.0 are mounted with a newly designed air-cooled 149cc 4-stroke, SOHC, single-cylinder fuel-injected engine on a lightweight frame to realize the product concept of a “Sharpened & Power-packed New FZ.” With the launch of these new models targeted at young men between the ages of 18-30, the company hopes to see a steep growth in the customer base, especially keeping in mind the mileage conscious target audience.
The eagerly-anticipated launch took place today at J W Marriott Hotel, New Delhi as Bollywood heartthrob John Abraham unveiled the new models to public applause and delight. The new FZ Version 2.0 and FZ-S Version 2.0 will be available in the market beginning July 2014.
The FZ Series motorcycles were first introduced in 2008 and went on to win a following primarily among trend-conscious young men. The features that make the FZ models so popular are its outstanding acceleration in city riding and its distinctive styling and design.
Building on the reputation, the new FZ Series models have been newly developed with Yamaha’s New Generation Engine Development Ideal – ‘Blue Core’ featuring improved performance in all areas, including fuel efficiency, acceleration and environmental friendliness. Its key features include (1) new engine offering class-leading acceleration with 14% improvement in fuel economy and compliant with BS IV emission standards

There were individual colouring concepts set for the FZ and FZ-S. For the FZ, the colours were chosen based upon the concept of ‘Simple, Stylish and Sporty’. The colouring concept for the FZ-S was ‘Street, Cyber and Sporty’, designed to project a high-tech image by creating an effect that makes it seem as if the body is emitting sharp fluorescent light.
