2015 Volvo XC90 Euro-NCAP Crash test

The new XC90 becomes the first vehicle to score full marks in Autonomous Emergency Braking test.

The 2015 Volvo XC90 stood up to the automaker’s reputation for safety as it scored 5 out of 5 stars in Euro-NCAP crash tests. The premium SUV scored high marks in each department to emerge as one of the safest SUVs on the planet.

The Swedish luxury car managed to achieve an impressive 97% score for adult occupant safety and 87% for child occupant safety. For pedestrian safety and Safety Assist systems, the SUV scored 72% and 100% respectively. It also became the first car to score full marks in Autonomous Emergency Braking test in both City and Interurban settings.

The safety equipment includes 8 airbags, seat belt load limiter and pretensioner, Isofix mounts for child seats, ABSm EBD, ESC, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Speed Assistance, Lane Assist System and many more.

Volvo XC90 India Launch

India will get the 2.0-litre diesel version in Momentum and Inscription trim levels.

Volvo India has unveiled the car in India and had announced the pricing. Deliveries are set to commence any time from now.

The company has announced that the flagship SUV which has a starting price of INR 64.9 lakhs has already garnered 266 bookings. The car is available in two variants – Momentum and Inscription. The fully loaded Inscription would set you back by INR 77.9 lakhs (both prices are ex-showroom, Delhi).

The XC90 for India will be powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder VEA diesel engine which is capable of 255 PS and 460 Nm of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission powers all the four wheels.
