The new Audi A4 was shown in Europe during Frankfurt Motor Show 2015 and in Japan at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show.

The 5th gen Audi A4 sedan is all set to make its Indian debut at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo next month. Before that, it has been spied on camera while on test in Mumbai.

Based on a new platform, 2016 Audi A4 ride and handling stands improved using an electromechanical steering system. The car also performs better owing to its lightweight avatar. 2016 Audi A4 is lighter by 120 kilos owing to the use of hydro-formed steel and aluminium in bodyshell and panel manufacturing, which helps make it 21 percent more efficient than the earlier gen.

Below is the spy video, shot by TechBuzz.

Overseas Audi A4 engine variants include a wider range but India should see a 2.0-litre TFSI petrol, and 2.0-litre TDI diesel offering mated to a 7-speed S Tronic gearbox. Standard features include 17 inch alloy wheels, smartphone interface, drive select, three-zone climate control, Virtual Cockpit instrument cluster, 7 inch colour MMI monitor, and Xenon headlights with LED DRLs. Matrix LED headlights are expected to be on offer as an optional fitment in India.

Audi A4 will be introduced as a CKD. If Audi India increases localisation here, it would warrant a competitive price point. The segment sees 2016 Audi A4 sedan take on the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, BMW 3 Series and the upcoming Jaguar XE.

Audi A4 design language continues in the lines of their new gen cars like the 2016 Audi Q7. The new A4 is sleeker and longer by 25mm, and wider by 16mm, with no changes to its height. Built on the MLB platform the wheelbase stands at 2,820 mm, that’s 12mm longer than its predecessor.

More details will be revealed once the car is revealed at the Auto Expo on 3rd Feb. Stay tuned to Rushlane as we bring you LIVE coverage of the show.
