Volkswagen Passat GTE hybrid is on display Volkswagen pavilion at 2016 Auto Expo, where it shares the stage with new VW Ameo, new VW Tiguan and new Polo GTI.
The new Passat GTE is a hybrid vehicle powered by a 1.4 liter turbocharged petrol engine offering 156 PS power and an 85 kW electric motor. These two engine offer combined output of 218 PS and peak torque of 400 Nm. The engine is mated to a 6 speed DSG gearbox. Volkswagen GTE has an electric range upto 50 kms, and can achieve a top speed of 130 kmph. The two engine sources together offer an impressive 1000 km range for the Passat GTE.
Volkswagen GTE gets four driving modes – E-mode, Hybrid, Battery Charge and GTE. Interiors sport a 6.5 inch screen offering all information of the engine along with range, charge and other updates while exteriors were seen sporting some elegant features with a new front grille design, new headlights and LED DRLs. When launched in India, it will rival the Toyota Camry Hybrid.
Volkswagen also showed off a slew of new products at the 2016 Auto Expo as the company embarks on an enhanced portfolio in the country which will play a key role in not only increasing company’s sales figures but also take market share a notch or two higher. Special emphasis is being paid to safety, quality and innovation as the made for India Ameo, new Tiguan, GTI and new Passat are set for launch in the country.
