New Ford Explorer makes its debut at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show

Set to go on sale by next summer, the Ford Explorer SUV will receive a new engine and new high end trim variant so as to continue to hold a dominant position as a leader in the utility vehicles segment. Ford Explorer SUV will receive a new front bumper, revised grille and well designed new headlamps at the front while changes to the rear comprise new tail lamps and an optimized spoiler so as to reduce drag.

Sold in more than 100 markets across the globe, Ford Explorer is built in North America at Chicago Assembly Plant, as well as in Venezuela and now, Russia.

Engine specifications will include a 2.3 liter EcoBoost four cylinder engine which takes the place of the 2.0 liter EcoBoost engine seen on its earlier counterpart. This new engine is capable of 270 bhp power and 406 Nm torque.

Interiors will be seen with exclusive material while the range topping Platinum variant will stand apart with LED headlights, skid plates in a silver finish, dual paneled moonroof and 20” alloy wheels in a two toned effect. The Platinum model of Ford Explorer also receives perforated Nirvana leather seats, heated leather steering wheel with wood inserts, satin finished ash wood trims and a digital instrument cluster along with a 500 watt Sony audio system.

On board technology will include advanced safety systems, power rear seats, inflatable rear seat belts and park assist. Sales of the 2016 Ford Explorer should start next summer. No indications on pricing which should be revealed closer to launch.
