2016 Toyota Fortuner is about to make its global presence felt and images and details have seeped onto the internet. Slated to be larger than the outgoing model in both length and wheelbase, Toyota Fortuner sports a new fascia inspired by the Lexus, diamond cut 18” alloy wheels, a floating roof and angular tail lamps.
Interiors have also been detailed wherein a leather wrapped 3 spoke steering wheel, a brand new instrument cluster and touchscreen infotainment system are evident along with automatic AC and vertical central console besides a host of storage spaces. With plenty of on board safety equipment, the 2016 Toyota Fortuner will boast of a total of 7 airbags that also includes a driver knee airbag, ABS, EBD, VSM, ESC and HAC. Built on a ladder on frame chassis and built of high tensile material offers better frontal crash protection adding to on-board safety features.
Where engine specifications on the new Fortuner are concerned, 177 hp and 450 Nm 2.8 litre 1GD-FTV and 150 hp and 400 Nm 2.4 litre 2GD-FTV engines from the GD family will make their way onto this new Fortuner all of which promise improved fuel efficiency.
Front is splashed with lots of chrome.Though the next gen Toyota Fortuner is not intended for immediate launch in India, Toyota Kirloskar Motors will be showcasing the new Fortuner at 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi in February. When launched, later next year, Toyota Fortuner will compete against the likes of Chevrolet Trailblazer, Ford Endeavour and Hyundai Santa Fe.
