2017 Porsche 718 Cayman is powered by a new four-cylinder flat 2 litre turbocharged engine, also used by the 718 Boxster, so both, coupe and roadster clock the same power output. The four-cylinder turbo in use brings in more power and sits at a price tag of INR 85.53 lakh, ex-showroom, New Delhi.
In numbers, power output stands at 300 hp (221 kW), an increase of 25 hp (18 kW) over the outgoing model. Torque is pegged at up to 380 Nm (+ 90 Nm) between 1,950 – 4,500 rpm. 718 Cayman top speed stands at 275 km/h. The higher-end S variant is powered by a more powerful 5 cylinder engine which generates 350 hp. It does a 0-100 kmph in just 4.0 seconds. Precision, wheel tracking and lateral stability are augmented through a retuned chassis. Redesigned springs and stabilisers are tuned to firmness, and the shock absorbers have been reworked upon.

Sport Chrono Package and Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) allow furthering the 718 Cayman’s sporty nuances. Sport Chrono Package with four driving modes is accessed through a switch on the steering wheel. For those opting for Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), ride height is lowered by ten millimetres. 330-millimetre brake discs are used in the front and 299-millimetre discs at the rear. The new 718 Porsche Cayman uses the brake system seen in S-version.
Design advancement underlines a muscular appearance through taut proportions, prominent front and side air intakes, and a low side profile. A sharper nose enhances front end design as wider and more masculine. Ultra-slim front lights above the air intakes, parking lights and indicators add to its masculine appearance. Bi-xenon headlights are integrated LED DRLs. LED headlights with four-point DRLs are offered as an option. The side houses striking wings and sills. The rear redesign wears a wider look owing to a high-gloss black accent strip integrated with the Porsche badge between tail lights. Tail lights incorporate three-dimensional tech and four-brake spot lights.
On the inside, the upper dash panel is new with integrated air vents. The sport steering wheel is use features on the 918 Spyder too. Porsche Communication Management (PCM) is a standard feature alongside mobile phone preparation, audio interfaces and 150-watt Sound Package Plus. Navigation module with voice control is available to further PCM functions.
