The 2017 Renault Megane saloon which replaces the Fluence in the company’s global portfolio has been unveiled. The sedan is would make its motor show debut in Paris in October.
To be manufactured at Fiat’s Bursa factory in Turkey, the Megane sedan, the third derivative of the nameplate after hatchback and estate, will be marketed in over 20 countries.
It’s not clear if it will succeed the Fluence in India as well. The sedan is essentially a Megane hatchback with a boot. The rear fascia design is inspired by the flagship Talisman saloon. The boot has can gobble up 508 litres of luggage.
The Megane sedan feels familiar on the inside as well. The dashboard design is common for all the three body styles. An 8.2-inch R-Link touchscreen infotainment is the main highlight. The equipment level too is identical to the hatchback.
The Renault Megane sedan is powered by two petrol and three diesel engines. The base SCe 115 petrol motor is mated to a 5-speed MT or CVT while the TCe 130 employs 6-speed MT or 7-speed DCT. The diesel engine range includes dCi 90, dCi 110 and dCi 130, all mated to a 6-speed MT. The dCi 115 can also be had with 6-speed EDC transmission.
