Triumph India has launched the Street Scrambler at a starting price of INR 8.1 lakh, ex-showroom. First showcased at the 2016 EICMA in November last year, the new Street Scrambler is a first of its kind motorcycle in the country, says Triumph.
2017 Triumph Street Scrambler is powered by the same 900cc engine which powers the T100 Bonneville. The engine is tuned to deliver more torque and power in the low down and mid-range to make city riding and off-roading a better experience.
The 900cc engine features a 270° firing interval for smoother power delivery mated to a five-speed gearbox. Throttle response is improved with the Triumph’s ride-by-wire fuel injection and liquid cooling system. Fuel emission and fuel efficiency are improved alongwith a more controlled ride. It features switchable ABS, and traction control, and a torque assist clutch.
2017 Triumph Street Scrambler takes style cues from Street Twin and makes room for modern and minimal body work with clean lines. The premise of better ride experience is based on tech and body improvement. Fuel tank with locking cap, aluminium foil tank decal, sculpted engine covers with brand and graphite engine badge, single throttle body with aluminium finisher and aluminium headlight mount feature.
The new Triumph Scrambler brushed stainless steel exhaust works with a cat box combined with stainless steel silencers in contrasting black heat shields. New Scrambler chassis and suspension is upgraded and tuned for neutral and predictable riding.
Seat height is lower which makes the bike more manageable and accessible. Changes in front and rear suspension (longer rear shocks) raises back end ride height. Wide and tapered aluminium handlebars and larger wire spoked wheels add riding position confidence.
Front wheel is 19″ and rear 17″ and is placed on steel blacked out hubs and rims encased in dual purpose Metzler Tourance tyres. The two-piston sliding axial Nissin calliper is new. Other features include an interchangeable pillion seat and aluminium rear rack, removable pillion pegs, ‘Bear Trap’ adventure style front pegs and bash plate.
There’s the Ribbed Alcantara-style twin seat with contrast stitching, embossed logo Aluminium headlight bracket, black headlight bezel, new front mudguard, detailed rubber knee pads, contemporary mirrors, gun-metal finish engine badges, and brushed aluminium tank logo decals that add to the bikes distinct appeal. Colour options include Jet Black Matt Khaki Green, Korosi Red and Frozen Silver.
