Datsun India has launched the new GO hatchback and GO Plus mini estate in the entry level segment in the country. Price of the Datsun Go starts from Rs 3.29 lakhs and that of the Go Plus starts from Rs 3.83 lakhs. Prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.
Datsun GO and GO+ are offered in five trim levels, new color schemes and cosmetic updates while engine spec remain unchanged. The new paint scheme on the two cars includes Amber Orange and Sunstone Brown.
Styling updates see a new bumper design, a new hexagonal grille and reworked headlamps with LED DRLs. The GO and GO plus also get new mirrors with turn indicators, larger diamond cut 14” wheels and rear wiper. While cabin is airy and spacious, boot space of the GO and GO Plus stands at 265 liters and 347 liters respectively.
Datsun has also added several interior updates to the GO and GO+. These include a new instrument cluster with analog tachometer and a new 7” touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The infotainment system also offers Google Map Navigation, and voice recognition with Bluetooth connectivity. This makes Datsun Go the most affordable car in India to feature a touchscreen infotainment system which is equipped with Android Auto and Apple Carplay.
The MID gets a dual trip meter, indicates average vehicle speed and engine running time. Seating and door liners are seen in a black color scheme on the GO while the GO+ gets a two tone color scheme. Safety features get added to the list of safety features seen on the earlier models with two standard airbags, reverse parking sensors and seat belt reminder. Power windows, follow me home headlamps and tinted glass are also offered on the new GO and GO+.
In terms of mechanics, the GO and GO+ continue be positioned on the V platform shared with the Nissan Micra. The updated models get powered by the same 1.2 liter, 3 cylinder, naturally aspirated, 12V DOHC EFI petrol engine offering 68 PS power at 5,000 rpm and 104Nm torque at 4,000 rpm mated to a 5 speed manual transmission while a 5 speed AMT can also be expected in the future. Fuel efficiency stands at 19.3 liters.
The new Datsun Go and Go Plus could rival the likes of new Hyundai Santro, Maruti WagonR, Tata Tiago, Maruti Celerio in India. Datsun has also gotten Bollywood actor Aamir Khan as brand ambassador. The company hopes to add more sales with the launch of these new cars.
