2018 Indian Chieftain Elite has been launched in India. It is priced at Rs 38 lakhs and gets a unique paint job which ensures that no two bikes are alike. Limited to just 350 units globally, 2018 Chieftain Elite gets a paint scheme which is called Black Hills Silver with marble accenting setting each bike apart with its own unique design with each paint scheme done by hand.
A team of experts mask the body work, lay the graphics and hand spray each bike which takes the painters a total of 25 hours to complete. The special paint featuring high flake Black Hills Silver is inspired from the silver mines in the Black Hills of South Dakota near the Indian Motorcycle paint plant in Spearfish, SD.
As compared to the standard version, this limited edition, custom inspired, 2018 Indian Chieftain Elite gets upgrades in the form of added equipment, customized leather seats, aluminum floorboards and features among which are a 7” Indian Motorcycle Ride Command System, a 200-watt premium audio system with Bluetooth audio, navigation, vehicle information and status along with split screen technology offering other driver centric details.
Launched in India by Mr. Pankaj Dubey, Managing Director and Country Head, Polaris India Pvt. Ltd, the 2018 Indian Chieftain Elite will definitely garner a lot of attention especially for premium bike aficionados in the country.
It comes in powered by a 1811cc Thunderstroke 111 V-twin engine which also powers the standard Chieftain. This engine offers 161.6 Nm torque at 3,000 rpm. It receives 119mm telescopic front forks and 114 mm monoshock suspension at the rear. Braking is via 300mm twin disks at the front and single 300mm disc at the rear. It sits on 19” front and 16” rear wheels fitted with Dunlop tyres and has kerb weight of 388 kgs.
2018 Indian Chieftain Elite will compete against the Harley-Davidson Street Glide and Honda Gold Wing in its segment.
