SsangYong Tivoli-based Mahindra S201 compact SUV has been spied on test Ooty – Coimbatore highway by Mr VELMURUGAN. K. The images you see below were shot near Conoor railway station. This new Mahindra SUV is a sub 4 meter variant of the Tivoli, which is on sale in the global market.
Codenamed Mahindra S201, this 2018 Mahindra SUV is expected to be launched in India later this year, or early next year. It has been spied on multiple occasions in India. Earlier this month, it was spotted on test in Delhi, where it revealed its production ready tail-lights.
Mahindra S201, like the TUV300 will also be a sub 4 meter compact SUV. But, it will be a more premium offering, and not a tough vehicle like the TUV300. It will be more of a city car, like its rivals Tata Nexon and Maruti Brezza.
Built on a monocoque platform, this new Mahindra SUV gets a front grille inspired by the Mahindra XUV500, new alloys and projector headlamps with LED DRLs and LED tail lamps. It also gets ORVMs, roof rails and a larger roof mounted spoiler along with integrated brake lights could also be a part of its exterior features. It will also get a sunroof, which rivals Maruti Brezza and Tata Nexon don’t get.
Mahindra S201 SUVs interiors will be spacious and loaded with both comfort and safety features. It will get plush seating, dual tone dashboard, push button start, keyless entry, sunroof and a large touchscreen infotainment system. It will also get steering mounted audio controls, cruise control and two USB ports along with AUX-IN and a 12V power socket.
In terms of safety, Mahinda S201 will get smart key entry, front and rear parking sensors, 7 airbags, ABS with EBD, seat belts with dual pre-tensioners and tyre pressure monitoring system which will be offered as standard. Like its international counterpart, it could also get Smart Steer System with three driving modes of Normal, Comfort and Sport.
Mahindra S201 engine specifications could include a 1.2 liter G80 turbo petrol engine and a 1.5 liter mHawk126 diesel engine mated to a 5 speed manual with a possibility of an AMT unit. No pricing details have been revealed as on date, but estimates put the upcoming SUV in a price range from Rs 8-10 lakhs.
