Mahindra and Mahindra are actively testing the new XUV700, a 7 seater SUV, which will be positioned above XUV500. Spied undisguised in a new colour, the images have drawn attention to its exterior design. The latest spy shots show the SUV being tested on public road. It is seen standing next to a BharatBenz truck. In comparison, the SUV does look huge – exactly how a Mahindra customer would want the XUV700 to be.
Mahindra XUV700 will be positioned on a long wheelbase measuring 2,865mm. It will feature automatic headlamps with LEDs and LED tail lamps, 5 spoke dual tone alloy wheels, wipers and a powered tailgate.
A bold shoulder line and flared wheel arches give it an aggressive stance. Interiors in leather upholstery, and a 9.2″ touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Wi-Fi support, 10.1″ screens for second row passengers, and dual zone automatic climate controls feature. Interiors will be pleasing to the eye in the soft glare of ambient lighting.
In terms of safety, new XUV700 gets 9 airbags, Hill Descent Control, Electronic Stability Control, Advanced Emergency Braking, and Active Roll-over Protection.
Powering the Mahindra XUV700 will be a 2.2 litre, 4 cylinder, Turbo Diesel engine offering 187 hp power and 420 Nm torque mated to a 6 speed manual/7 speed automatic transmission.
Speaking to ET Auto, Mahindra has confirmed that the new Mahindra XUV700 will be launched in the next 2-3 months in India. It will rival Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour, and is based on new gen SsangYong Rexton. It is expected to be priced between Rs 20-25 lakhs.
