2018 Maruti Ciaz teaser video released – New details revealed about Honda City rival

Maruti Suzuki India is all set to update their new Ciaz sedan. First launched in 2014, the new Ciaz sedan is the most expensive Maruti on sale in the country today. This shows how important the car is for Maruti, especially for their aim to transform itself into a premium car brand.

With bookings of the new Maruti Ciaz already open at all Nexa dealers across India, the company has now released the official teaser video of the car which shows the new features of Ciaz in detail.

The first shot of the teaser reveals the revised headlight design, which looks much more sharper, thanks to the addition of Audi-styled arrow LED DRLs. Next is the shot of LED tail-lamps, which seem to be inspired by a BMW luxury sedan. You also get the first look at the machine cut premium alloys of new Ciaz in the teaser. Then comes the stylish new honeycomb chrome grille with a large Suzuki logo in the center. No where on the car will you see the badge of Maruti. It only has Suzuki branding.

Though interiors are not yet revealed officially, leaked spy shots confirm the presence of dual tone dashboard with steering mounted controls, cruise control, Smartplay infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto. There is no sunroof though. Watch the teaser video below.

Powering the new Ciaz is a 1.5 liter petrol engine. This is an all new generation engine, developed in-house by Maruti for Indian customers. It delivers 104 PS power and 138 Nm torque. Transmission option on offer is manual as well as automatic. AMT is not expected to be on offer. Mileage expected is 21+ kmpl, making it the most fuel efficient petrol sedan in the segment.

Diesel engine on offer is a 1.3 liter Fiat sourced multijet, which was already on offer with the older Ciaz. This engine is mated to a 5 speed MT and is rated at 90 PS and 200 Nm. Mileage expected is 27+ kmpl.

More details will be revealed at launch event. We will also be test driving the car soon and share first drive review. Once launched, Maruti Ciaz will continue its rivalry with the Honda City and Hyundai Verna.
