2018 Maruti Ertiga MPV will be more fuel efficient – Launch by Aug 2018

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga was first launched in India in 2012. As is the case with most of Maruti cars, it was an instant hit. Booking numbers went through the roof. Never in the Indian auto industry’s history, was an MPV received with such aplomb. In 2015, Maruti launched facelifted Ertiga, which featured some cosmetic and feature updates.

Now, after the successful launch of new Dzire and Swift, Maruti is getting ready to launch new generation of Maruti Ertiga. Already spied on test, 2nd gen Ertiga will sometime in August this year.

Codenamed YHA as on date, the upcoming Ertiga MPV will get more features, offer a better fuel efficiency and more space on the inside, especially in the 3rd row. In terms of design, new gen Maruti Ertiga will sport a new grille and bumper design. It will also get new alloy wheels.

Based on Suzuki’s Heartect platform, the new Ertiga will get increased dimensions and will be longer and wider than the existing model. The rear end gets bigger overhang resulting in more passenger space in the third row and also for extra luggage. A prominent belt line will run the length of the Ertiga.

With the Heartect platform that also underpins the new DZire, the Ertiga will also get a similar dashboard design while top spec models will get the same touchscreen infotainment system as seen on the new DZire with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Maruti Ertiga is expected to get new range of engine options. These will be in the form of 1.5 liter petrol and 1.5 liter diesel mills, developed by MSIL. These engines will deliver best in class performance and mileage figures. More details will be revealed closer to launch date.
