The Maruti Suzuki Vitara SUV is being actively tested in India. Just a few days back, photos were posted across online platforms of the car being tested in India. But that is the current Vitara. Now, Suzuki has unveiled the updated Vitara SUV for the world.
The updated Maruti Vitara SUV facelift will first be launched in Europe, later this year. It will feature a revised front look, thanks to new grille and headlight design. Tail lights too have been updated.
Speaking about 2018 Maruti Vitara, it is seen in a distinctive metallic turquoise paint. The current variant measures 4.2 mtrs in length and gets exterior features such as a chrome grille, new fog lamps, LED DRLs blacked out B Pillar and tinted rear windshield. Wheel arches sport black plastic cladding and the Vitara sits on new 5” alloy wheels.
On sale in international markets, the Suzuki Vitara is positioned above the S-Cross and is powered by diesel and petrol engine choices. Vitara gets a 1.6 liter, 4 cylinder petrol engine offering 118 bhp power and 156 Nm torque and a 1.4 liter turbocharged engine offering 138 bhp power and 220 Nm torque. Its diesel engine is a 1.6 liter unit capable of 118 bhp power and 320 Nm torque with all engines mated to 5 speed or 6 speed manual transmission or 6 speed automatic gearbox. AWD is offered as an option.
On board the new Maruti Suzuki Vitara, you have the option of new turbocharged petrol and diesel engine option. These are 1.0 liter and 1.4 liter. The former delivers 111 PS while the latter delivers 140 PS and 220 Nm. Suzuki AWD AllGrip is on offer on top variants. Transmission options include manual as wlel as automatic.
Standard features on offer with the new Vitara are lane departure warning, traffic sign and speed limit recognition, dual sensor brake support, traffic alert, and blind spot monitor. Price will be revealed closer to launch.
The SUV portfolio of the leading Indian car brand consists only the Vitara Brezza, which is sold via the regular Maruti Suzuki dealerships. Compared to the Brezza, Vitara is a larger and a more premium SUV. If launched, it will most likely be sold via the company’s NEXA outlet and rival the Hyundai Creta.
