Transformed 2018 Triumph Tiger debut at EICMA on 7th November 2017

A teaser video of 2018 Triumph Tiger has been released ahead of its showing at 2017 EICMA Show on 7th November. This year’s EICMA Show is being held at in Rho-Pero exhibition center of Fiera Milano where the new Triumph Tiger will be seen with a host of feature updates, aweek from today.

As per the released video, 2018 Triumph Tiger is powered by a ‘New Tiger Triple Engine’ and updated Tiger technology. As is the intent of the teaser, it is difficult to guess the power on either of the video showcases, or see much else with clarity. We do see DRL LED headlamps. The headlight cluster on the assumed 1200 looks visibly more illuminated. This update is for both Euro IV spec Tiger 800, and Tiger 1200 Explorer. Tiger 800 looks to have a slimmer rear based on a familiar looking taillight. The video also reveals addition of cornering function on the headlamp which sends light into the corners for better visibility. New backlit switchgear is also noted in the video along with a larger mode switch and toggle switch, which controls a full colour screen (TFT) akin to that seen on the Street Triple RS.

Little is revealed about the engine to power the 2018 Triumph Tiger which could be a 3 cylinder Euro 4 compliant engine. The current engine offers 93 bhp power and 79 Nm torque and this engine is scheduled to make it to the new model with some tweaks for added power and performance.

There is no confirmation of whether 2018 Triumph Tiger will be launched in India where the company also sells 2017 Triumph Explorer XCx priced at INR 18.75 lakhs. If launched, 2018 Triumph Tiger 1200 will be brought in as a CBU where it will compete against Ducati Multistrada 1200 Enduro and BMW R1200GS Adventure.
