As with most global auto manufacturers, Kia has zeroed in on India as a major developing market. Work is in full swing at the Kia Anantapur plant. In the meantime, the company is diligently engaging in brand building activities to familiar the market with the brand. The company looks forward to the completion of its Anantapur plant in early 2019.
In the current market scenario, Indian auto industry sees positive sales growth in the compact and mid-size SUV segment. The burgeoning SUV market has seen almost all manufacturers take note of this, and introduce a new SUV, or better an old one.
Kia attributes this trend in part to Indian road conditions that aren’t perfect. This gives cars that are higher up from the ground a vantage point in terms of preference ‘cause they come with the promise of improved visibility, and road presence.
As a matter of fact, earlier today, Kia India has shared a teaser video which features their Sportage SUV. It is based on the new Hyundai Tucson SUV, and also shares parts and engine. The message they have shared with the video – Are you ready for Kia (India)?
Sportage will not be the first car Kia will be launching in India. Kia Motors India will introduce SP2i (codename) mid-size SUV as its first car here. It is the production ready variant of the SP Concept which was showcased at the Auto Expo earlier this year.
Kia SP2i SUV will wear a modern design language and match its worthiness with features and quality one expects in cars in a higher segment. As Kia Motors India prepares for an activity filled 2019, the company’s focus areas include product development, communication, sales, services, and customer-related activities, among other things to reach out and make a mark as it begins its maiden innings here.
