2019 Maruti Ertiga based sportier Suzuki Ertiga GT debuts – Red and Black

Maruti Suzuki India Limited plans launch of a new 6 seater MPV in India. Though it is based on the 7 seater version of the current Ertiga, it will go by a different name. Also unlike the current Ertiga which is sold via Arena outlets, the new 6 seater MPV will be on sale via exclusive NEXA dealerships in India.

Set to target the more premium customers, the new 6 seater MPV has been unveiled in Indonesia as the Ertiga GT. Based on India’s Maruti Ertiga, the new Suzuki Ertiga GT is positioned at the top of the Ertiga lineup, and borrows some features from the 7 seater Ertiga but with added comfort, technology and safety features to set it apart.

Maruti Ertiga GT will see LED projector headlamps, tilt steering, auto dimming IRVMs. Interiors done up in black theme with red accents and GT badging, matching the exterior theme of the car. It will also get features such as cruise control, electric seat adjust for driver along with a larger touchscreen infotainment system. Safety features on offer will include dual airbags, ABS with EBD.

It will also get more pronounced bumpers and fog lamp housings. The interiors will boast of a 2+2+2 seating arrangement with captain seats in the middle row, as against 2+3+2 seating configuration, seen on the 7 seater version wherein the third row can accommodate two kids. The new 6 seater MPV will also get new black painted alloy wheels.

When launched in India, the 6 seater Maruti Ertiga GT will be powered by a K15B, 1.5 liter, naturally aspirated, 4 cylinder petrol engine producing 104 PS power at 6,000 rpm and 138 Nm torque at 4,400 rpm. There could also be a E15A 1.5 liter turbocharged diesel engine giving 95 PS power at 4,000 rpm and 225 Nm torque at 1,500-2,500 rpm.

Multiple colour options are on offer – Red, Black and Grey can be seen in the images below. The 7 seater Ertiga is sold via Arena outlets, but the 6 seater Ertiga GT MPV will be exclusively retailed via NEXA outlets. It is expected to be priced over Rs 10 lakhs, ex-sh.
