2019 Range Rover Sport SUV range gets affordable by Rs 20 L – Thanks to new petrol engine

Taking into account the increase in consumer preference towards petrol motors, Jaguar Land Rover has now introduced 2 litre petrol options for its 2019 Range Rover Sport. Price for the petrol option starts at Rs 86.71 lakh while the SUV is available in S, SE and HSE trims. Before this, the Range Rover Sport price started from Rs 1.05 crores for diesel 3 liter variant and Rs 1.15 crore for petrol 3 liter variant.

Talking about the turbocharged petrol motor, it churns out a good 300 PS (221Kw) and 400 Nm of max torque. The power output is good enough for the SUV to manage a 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.1 seconds and also helps it achieve a top speed of over 200 km/h (these performance figures are for Dynamic variant)

On the inside, the 2019 Range Rover Sport 2 liter petrol packs a host of creature comfort features like 3-zone climate control, cabin air ionization, sliding panoramic roof, Park Pack, powered tailgate and Control Pro. Customers also get to use the Touch Pro Duo infotainment system while there are features like 12.3 inch Interactive Drier Display and a full-color Heads-up Display for the driver.

Commenting upon the launch, Mr. Rohit Suri, President & MD of Jaguar Land Rover India Ltd stated, “The success of the Range Rover Sport has been integral in driving demand for the Land Rover portfolio in India. The Model Year 2019 2.0 l petrol derivative should further increase the aspirational value of the flagship model at an attractive and exciting price.”

Other interesting update from JLR’s portfolio was the surfacing of spyshots of the 2020 Land Rover Defender. The SUV has been off the showrooms from 2016 and the British automaker is currently working towards a return of the Defender brand. The SUV has its own cult following, thanks to its ability to go anywhere. Power is expected to be drawn from a 2 litre turbocharged diesel unit. The SUV will most likely make its debut at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show and go on sale from 2020.

As far as Indian operations are concerned, Land Rover’s Indian portfolio consists of the range topping Range Rover (INR 181.86 lakh onwards), Range Rover Sport (INR 86.71 lakh onwards), Discovery (INR 76.94 onwards), Range Rover Velar (INR 72.47 lakh onwards), Range Rover Evoque (INR 52.06 lakh onwards) and the entry-level Discovery Sport (INR 44.68 onwards) (all prices are ex-showroom).
