Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt. Ltd. dealers have opened bookings of the new 2019 Hayabusa. Bookings start at Rs. 1 lakh. Price will continue to be at Rs.13.65 lakhs, ex-showroom.
For the 2019 model year, the new Suzuki Hayabusa gets new color options of grey with red and black with grey. Apart from the new color schemes, the 2019 Suzuki Hayabusa will continue to sport same specifications as seen on its current counterpart.
The new Suzuki Hayabusa will be powered by the same 1,340cc, inline, DOHC, fuel injected, four cylinder engine. This engine makes 197 bhp power at 9,500 rpm and 115 Nm torque at 7,200 rpm. The Hayabusa will be imported into the country as a CKD to be assembled at the SMIPL factory in Manesar, Gurugram.
Suzuki Hayabusa, which was the first production bike to breach the 300 kmph mark saw its speed restricted to 299 kmph following a ‘Gentleman’s Agreement’ following its rivalry with the Ninja ZX-14R.
In Europe, Suzuki has stopped production of the Hayabusa after 20 years since its debut. The Euro IV engine was never updated and it also did not comply with EU Regulations 168/2013 which came into effect from January 2016. The bike makers were given grace period for two years to sell of stocks which ends on 31st December 2018 after which it will be illegal to sell the Hayabusa in European markets.
In India too, the current generation Hayabusa will be discontinued before the BS6 emissions come into effect by 2020. The company will be introducing the new generation model only sometime in 2022. This new generation Hayabusa will sport a turbocharged engine complying with new BS VI emission norms, new electronic updates and a completely new chassis and design.
