2019 Toyota Camry first teaser video released ahead of launch next month

New Toyota Camry sedan launch in India has been a long wait. These last two months have been fruitful for spyshot enthusiasts who’ve spotted the Camry time and again. And now, the wait is over as the new Camry hybrid makes its presence felt on the Toyota India website in the form of photo and video teaser.

New Toyota Camry hybrid launch date scheduled on January 18, 2019. Eighth gen Camry is expected to be launched as a petrol hybrid engine only at first. Internationally, this 8th generation Camry is available in two styles of TRD and Modellista – both have undergone a lot of style changes.

It is based on the GA-K iteration of Toyota New Global Architecture platform, that also underpins the new Prius. It gets exciting exterior design, which is much more sportier than before. In the front is new grille flanked by LED headlights and DRLs.

In its new avatar, its likely that the 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine mated to a hybrid motor and e-CVT gearbox continues on duty. Re-tuned for improved efficiency, 2019 Toyota Camry is based on GA-K platform, also seen in new Lexus ES 300 h. Watch the teaser video below.

Interiors also get revamped with a new dashboard design and instrument cluster. Extensive use of wood is seen throughout its interiors while the infotainment system is also updated with new 8 inch touchscreen. The instrument cluster gets a 7.0-inch MID. Measuring 4,879mm in length, 1,838mm in width and 1,445mm in height, the new Toyota Camry sits on a wheelbase measuring 2,824mm – making it one of the biggest and most spacious car in the segment.

Next-gen Camry takes on Honda Accord Hybrid, Skoda Superb and Volkswagen Passat. To be launched in the new calendar year, the car is expected to be launched at a slightly higher price tag than the outgoing model as Toyota has announced a price hike across its product portfolio for 2019. Current Camry Hybrid is priced at about Rs 38 lakhs.
