The dashing 2019 Toyota Camry has been finally launched in India. Based on a new TNGA-K platform, the new Camry provides more space and comfort, improved fuel efficiency and superior driving dynamics. Price starts from Rs 36.95 lakhs, ex-showroom.
All-new Camry looks a lot sportier with its slim headlamps, stylish V-shaped housing for Toyota badging, prominent chrome accented grille with horizontal slats, and uniquely designed multi-spoke wheel. It’s curvaceous design and character lines look stunning, making it a lot more appealing than its predecessor. New Camry is longer, wider and has a longer wheelbase (+50 mm), as compared to the outgoing model.
2019 Toyota is designed for superior comfort and offers a range of hi-tech features. There’s 10-inch HUD, 7-inch instrument cluster display and 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Other key features include 9-speaker JBL Dolby audio system, wireless Qi charging, leather-wrapped steering wheel with tilt and telescopic adjustment, cruise control, triple-zone Nanoe air conditioner, electrically operated ORVMs, dual USB ports, and 12V USB charger.
Driver’s seat is ten-way power adjustable and can be operated with a remote with memory function. Passenger seat has lumbar support and sliding range has been increased by 20 mm. There’s a moonroof as well, which can be conveniently tiled and slid inside. All-new Camry has auto guide control that gets automatically activated in Eco mode. It significantly improves fuel efficiency on longer rides.
2019 Camry has lower centre of gravity, which adds 22 mm and 30 mm of additional headroom for front and rear passengers respectively. It has also helped improve driving dynamics. New Camry features rack-mounted Electronic Power Steering and has a turning radius of 5.7 metre. Suspension system is also brand new, featuring MacPherson struts at the front and double wishbone system at the rear.
All-new Camry is powered by a 2,487 cc, dual VVT-i four-cylinder petrol engine that delivers max power of 178 hp at 5,700 rpm and max torque of 221 Nm at 3,600-5,200 rpm. Engine is mated to an e-CVT gearbox. Petrol engine is the same as earlier, but it has been configured to deliver 18 hp of increased power. Petrol unit is coupled with an 88 kW electric motor, which takes overall power output to 208 hp.
All-new Camry comes with a range of safety features such as 9-airbags, ABS with EBD, Vehicle Stability Control, Brake Assist, Hill Start Assist, Traction Control System, and Park Assist with rear camera and sonar sensor. Passenger safety has been improved with the use of high strength steel central tunnel.
2019 Camry’s claimed mileage is 23.27 kmpl. Customers can choose from 7 colour options – Red Mica, Phantom Brown, Burning Black, Attitude Black, Pearl White, Silver, and Graphite. It will take on rivals such as Honda Accord Hybrid.
