Already showcased in India to dealers at a closed door event in Bangalore back in July this year, the all new 2019 Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportiva launch date is 12th Sep 2019. More sportier in looks, the design is credit to TRD, which is short for Toyota Racing Development.
TRD is a subsidiary of Toyota, and they specialise in developing tuning as well as modifying Toyota cars around the world. Though the Fortuner TRD Sportivo for India is developed by TRD, there is no modification made to the engine. It is only terms on aesthetics that the car has received update.
New gen Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo is already on sale in Thailand, but the one which will go on sale in India, is slightly different in terms of design. India-spec Fortuner TRD Sportivo can be seen in the image above, while Thai spec is seen in the image below.
Powering the Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo in India will be a 2.8 liter 4 cylinder BS4 diesel engine. This engine is rated to deliver 174 hp and 450 Nm. Transmission option on offer with the Sportivo trim is 6 speed automatic. Manual transmission will not be on offer with Fortuner TRD Sportivo in India. Drive system on offer is 4×2 with Fortuner Sportivo. No 4×4 option for the TRD Fortuner.
This means that the 2019 Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo will only be offered in 4×2 system with AT option. No petrol engine will be on offer. Mileage claim is 12.9 kmpl. It will be sold in a dual tone colour option of Dual Tone Black Roof with Pearl White Colour.
To differentiate the regular Fortuner from the TRD Sportivo trim, the latter has TRD badging in red colour on the car’s front and rear. It also gets revised bumpers and front grille. On the inside too, there will be TRD badge on the seats as well as on the instrument panel. Seats will be finished in leather and will have contrast Red stitching.
Price will be revealed on the launch date, 12th Sep 2019. Expect the new Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo to be priced at about Rs 33 lakhs, ex-sh. In comparison, the 2.8 liter diesel Fortuner regular 4×2 AT costs Rs 31.7 lakhs, ex-sh.
