Yamaha Motor India started the week on a strong note with the launch of FZ-FI V3 and FZS-FI V3 with ABS, and FZ 25 and Fazer 25 with ABS. And while that was the obvious launch, there’s been enough to direct all attention to the incoming MT15.
While the 2019 Yamaha MT15 has already been spied and is ready for launch. Sources tell us that the launch is awaiting certain clearances on homologation front or atleast in the final stages of permissions. Enthusiasts have been flocking dealerships to get in queue in the buying order.
Though Yamaha did show all they could in their new ABS offerings, the media didn’t catch a glimpse of new MT15. However, the dealer meet was an altogether different story with an MT15 video reveal. The video showcases the India-spec MT15, which is coming soon.
The not too detailed video clip confirms what the info the test mules helped gather. Still no USD forks. So, yup the vehicles being tested are pretty much what’s incoming. The India-spec MT15 will feature telescopic shock absorbers and not the gold hued Upside Down forks seen overseas. MT15, R15 V3’s naked cousin follows an approach path similar to R15 in India. The video content also touches upon the ‘Dark side of Japan’, and ‘The Dark Warrior’, which at first we thought to be Vikings, but their masks are certainly south east Asian. MT15 could in fact feature a box-section swingarm and not the aluminium unit seen in the R15. The dark warrior is portrayed with an aggressive face with LED headlamps, similar to the international spec MT15.
There’s no confirmation on the soon in ‘coming soon’. But, a Yamaha dealer confirmed that launch is planned for March 2019, with deliveries to commence soon after. 2019 Yamaha MT15 ABS price tag should be a tad bit lower than R15 V3 ABS, around the 1.2L mark.
