Daimler India Commercial Vehicles, world leaders in CV manufacture, has outlined a new commercial vehicle product portfolio for India.
In the overall commercial vehicle and M&HCV market in India is concerned, Daimler India Commercial Vehicles has seen sales of 13,200 vehicles of its Bharat Benz truck brand during the period January to November 2019. This was a dip of 35 percent over 20,500 units sold in the same period of the previous year.
Now the company has outlined a new CV product portfolio for India, each of which promise to come in with class leading fuel efficiency, elevated safety equipment and better cabin comforts. The products are claimed to receive better connectivity and reliability, all of which will go a long way in reducing maintenance costs.
The new generation of trucks and buses has also been detailed with a “ProfitTechnology+” benefit package. The company has also cited a deviation from the traditional tonnage classification towards customization of vehicles to create a truck for every need. There will be added impetus on customization of applications and thus creating a vehicle to target specific sectors.
With added emphasis on digitization for customers, DICV also detailed ‘Proserv’ a customer service digital program with new telematics solutions of ‘Truckonnect’ and ‘Busconnect’. This kind of digitization platform will allow truck operators to track, manage and analyze their vehicles in real time. This will lead to better maintenance, efficient management, cost efficiency and increased utilization of assets while it will also related to enhanced driver performance.
The Proserv application comes in with 65+ features, allowing for advance booking, part ordering, extended warranty, insurance and 24×7 roadside assistance with online payment options. Busconnect will benefit both passengers and operators in a way that will allow for passengers to be able to select routes, get tracking alerts, on board entertainment and earn reward miles. Operators will receive fleet summaries so as to manage fleet administration in a more efficient manner.
The Bharat Benz buses in BS6 format sees new design elements with bold styling. They receive new grille designs, solid bumpers and more comfortable cabins with suspension seating. The introduction of soft cruise control allows drivers to manage speeds at constant levels thereby relating to better fuel management. The instrument cluster gets shift gear advisory and the buses will come in with future ready electric and electronic architecture called ETech with advanced human interface, easy fault detection and chassis body CAN interface.
